Update from Paul and Marty Law

July 27, 2009

Dear Friends,

I am leaving in a few moments for our Annual Conference at Wembo Nyama where I will be a delegate. We will be there all this week and will be dealing with many important issues regarding the work of the Church here. We will also be voting on the proposed constitutional amendments to the United Methodist constitution. It is an opportunity for the African United Methodists to have a voice in the worldwide Church and we are hoping to help them understand the issues so they can vote their consciences.

We will be taking the "Jesus Film" with us to show to the whole conference as well as in several nearby villages where people have not seen it. We continue to rejoice in the response that we always get to the showings. People are deeply touched and drawn to the Lord. Continue to pray for this vital ministry!!

Our work continues to progress even though we are facing a continual hindrance in not having a functioning truck. The older one we have has simply become impossible to keep running and repair. We have decided to try to buy a newer used one that will meet our needs rather than sinking more and more money into Trucka lost cause. The attached picture is the type we are wanting to purchase even though we will put a different bed on it that will be better suited to our use here.

The total costs delivered to Lodja will be about $30,000 and we have in hand and committed $21,000 of that amount. Please pray with us over this critical need and if you feel that you or your church could help us with a portion of the remaining amount, please do so.

Marty's children's work is on break since the children are all out for the summer. She will begin again as soon as the schools open in September. A few rains here in the middle of the dry season have made the station very lovely, especially as I have been able to mow it with our small tractor mower.

Progress is sometimes slow, but it is refreshing and encouraging when we see it. Nzambi anyothsokole tshe. (may God bless you all)
